Increase In Retirement Age In Karnataka For Private Sector

Dear Sir,

Please clarify whether the proposed extension of the retirement age from 58 to 60 years in Karnataka is applicable beyond workmen (I mean officers cadre).

It is applicable only to workmen who come under the purview of the Industrial Employment Standing Orders Act, 1946.

Please go through the GOVERNMENT ORDERS because the Government cannot distinguish the age of retirement among different cadres of employees. While Standing Orders apply to workmen, there are separate Manuals or Service rules for other categories of employees. The Government can amend the ACT accordingly, but not based on the category of employment. Please look into it.
