Hi all,
I have a query regarding my salary. Since I am posting for the first time, I am not sure if this is the correct thread. If not, I would request the moderator to move me or guide me to the right one. So here it goes.
I have a total industry experience of more than 8 years but have a very low salary compared to my peers. Now the problem is if I go for a new job interview and ask for a 30-40% hike, I still stay below par from the current industry trend. I should be getting a package of Rs 8 to 9 lakh (as being eligible for an assistant manager role) but due to some uncontrollable situations in the past, I am now drawing a salary of Rs 5 lakh. So you see what I am referring to.
Now, I want to understand how I can get to a salary of 8 lakh if not 9 lakh in my next interview. Can I tell the HR that since I am on a low package I need more hike and would they consider my point? Is that the correct approach, and if not, what are some ways I can negotiate so that I can be at par with the market? I don't really want to fake my salary and live with the fear of being caught.
Any and all suggestions would be highly appreciated. I look forward to a prompt response.
Thanks in advance.
