New Hire Leaves in 7 Days: Are We Required to Pay for Their Short Stay?

marketing@jewelsteelware.com
Dear All,

Kindly let me know if a new employee joins and leaves the organization within 7 days, is the company bound to pay for the 7 days? What should be the minimum number of days an employee should serve so that the company is liable to pay? We have a 30-day notice period policy too.

If he has worked for even a single day, then he is also entitled to pay. However, if there is any notice period for both parties to which the employee agreed and violated such notice period, then you have every right to ask him to serve the notice period or to pay in lieu thereof.

If the employee doesn't serve the notice period, how should the payment be settled?
