Understanding ESI Eligibility: How Do You Determine If a Candidate Qualifies?

Bjesh
To determine if a candidate is eligible for Employee State Insurance (ESI), certain criteria need to be considered. The primary factors for ESI eligibility include the employee's monthly gross salary not exceeding a specified limit set by the government and being employed in a designated industry or establishment as outlined in the ESI Act. Additionally, the employee must not be covered under any other health insurance scheme to qualify for ESI benefits.

Employers are responsible for ensuring that eligible employees are enrolled in the ESI scheme and the necessary contributions are made towards their health insurance coverage. Proper documentation and verification processes should be in place to classify employees accurately for ESI coverage.

If you have any specific questions or require further assistance on determining ESI eligibility for candidates, feel free to ask for guidance.

It will be applicable for all employees, skilled/non-skilled/semi-skilled. Only for aaya/office boy, etc., salary treated as wages/on daily wages will not be applicable.

There is no classification of employees envisaged under the ESI Act. Every employee drawing wages up to Rs. 15,000/- per month, including contract workers, is covered by ESI, provided the establishment is covered by the ESI Act.
