Dear Marie,
If policies were to improve employee motivation, then the job of HR professionals would have been far easier.
Employee Motivation and Organization's Culture: Employee motivation is the result of the organization's culture, which is shaped by the top leadership. Therefore, for any initiatives, you need buy-in from your top management. Without their support, nothing will change.
Role of Managers in Employee Motivation: Apart from culture, employee motivation also depends on the Head of Department or Department Manager. The way they conduct themselves, make decisions, their job knowledge, feedback style, achievement orientation, etc., also influence junior employees. Sometimes, managers become too focused on results, or their superiors put excessive pressure on them. This pressure is often transferred to their subordinates, creating a stressful environment that impacts employee motivation negatively.
The topic of employee motivation is frequently discussed. You can review previous discussions on this forum. Additionally, you can access the following links for my responses to previous posts. These insights may help address the root causes of employee demotivation.
