Friends,
Please find attached the order dated 8.9.2016 of the Madras High Court. The court has ruled that under the Hindu Succession Act, legal heirs are entitled to receive terminal benefits, not just the nominee. The nominee acts as a trustee to receive the money on behalf of the legal heirs, and the ownership rights do not belong to the nominee, even if the service rules state otherwise.
Thanks
