Confused About Notice Period Rules During Probation? Need Advice on My Situation

Rohini25
I am currently working with a semi-government organization. At the time of appointment, it was mentioned in my letter that if this organization wants, they can terminate my services within one month either by giving notice or a month's pay. So now, when I have put up my resignation during the probation period, they are asking me to serve a 3-month notice period or pay out for the period, which I feel is not correct as it was never mentioned anywhere that in case of me resigning, I have to give 3 months' notice. I assumed that it would be the same for both parties during probation, i.e., one month and 3 months after confirmation. Kindly guide.

It is better to see the appointment letter clearly. If they mentioned a 1-month notice period for either party, the same rule applies to both parties.

I checked the appointment letter. It only mentions information from the organization's side and nothing for the candidate. There is only one statement that mentions you will be governed by their HR policies.

Then I don't think there are any issues. You mentioned that it is governed by HR policies, but what are those? Have you gone through those policies? If not, that's not a problem at all.
