Starting a Soft Skills Training Institute: Can You Share a 2-Month Syllabus?

Guhan Ram
Good day, I was really impressed with your forum and the great job you are doing. Now, I am going to start a soft skill training institute in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. I would like to request you to please provide a sample syllabus for a 2-month course. The course should include telephone etiquette, email writing, stress management, confidence building, time management, customer service, interview training, and more. Kindly assist me with this.

Course Development for Training Institute

You are going to start a training institute. Students or professionals would be your customers, and your product would be the contents of the course. Your business success will depend on the course contents and delivery. However, as of now, you are not clear as to what should be included in the course curriculum. Is this not contradictory?

I recommend that you study each topic and develop content on your own. Yes, you may say that it would amount to reinventing the wheel; nevertheless, when you reinvent the wheel, you reduce the chances of misalignment of the wheels.

You may find that my suggestions are assertive; nevertheless, this assertion emanates from my 16 long years in this business.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar

You have mentioned seven topics to be covered in two months: Telephone etiquette, Email writing, Stress management, Confidence building (or Personality development?), Time management, Customer service, and Interview training.

Additional Topics

You can add at least one more topic from the remaining options, such as Body language, Communication, Leadership, etc. Even if you decide to cover one topic per week, eight weeks are accounted for.

Course Duration and Structure

The syllabus coverage will depend on whether you want to have a one-hour class, a half-day program, or a full-day session. As seniors have advised, make sure you employ specialists for the job. The quality of your draft leaves much to be desired if you plan to do it all by yourself.
