Is Sharing Employee Photos with Emails a Privacy Risk? Let's Discuss Legal Concerns and Solutions

amitdighe
I would like to know if uploading employees' photographs with email and messenger by an organization impacts the privacy of an employee and if there is any such law that an organization should require employees to undertake before uploading the photo. Nowadays, we configure our personal phones with official emails, and the photographs get synchronized with Truecaller and other apps, showing images of employees (especially females) with their contact information, which is visible to everyone. Please advise.

Dear Amit,

I don't see the threat that you are suggesting. Please help me understand the challenges or friction that you are expecting. Any online profile is never complete without a display picture. Hence, it's natural for the firm to complete the profile.

Here's another question, can you leave this option to the employees? If they are willing, they can do it on their own?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The poster apprehends privacy issues of posting a female profile with a photograph. Probably, this choice of whether to display a photograph or not should be left optional to the employee. All people display photos on their Facebook profile as their own choice and also keep changing images.
