The Payment of Bonus Act has been revised. The official notification is attached. All employees with a basic salary of less than 10k per month are now covered under this.

Wages or salary means basic wage, Dearness Allowance (DA), and food allowance or food value.

Wages under the Payment of Bonus Act, i.e., Rs. 10,000 for coverage under the Act. Whether the wages are Basic or Gross Wages.

As I have already mentioned, wages or salary refer to basic wage, D A, and food allowance or food value. Gross wages should not be considered under this Act.

Dear Moderator,

If the employer declares a bonus/ex-gratia for the performance in the previous year 2009-10, is any employee who has left the organization in this year 2010-11 eligible for the ex-gratia declared? Can anybody clarify?
