Stuck Without an Offer Letter After Resigning: What Should I Do Next?

Interview and Offer Letter Status

I gave the interview on 18 Feb 16, and on the same day, they released the offer fitment mentioning the position and CTC breakdown. I accepted it after they asked me for two references the next day. However, I have not yet received any formal offer letter from them. I am continuously asking HR and other respective persons, but they are still saying it is pending approval from the business head.

Even though they have not asked for any documents like salary slips or certificates, it's a really do-or-die situation for me as I have already resigned from my previous employer and am not applying anywhere else. I called HR a few days back, and she said the offer letter has been put on hold until the first week of April. Meanwhile, she suggested that I search for other options, and if I find something, I can move ahead with my career. She mentioned that once they receive approval for the offer letter, they will contact me.

It appears that you jumped the gun by tendering a letter of resignation. You did this based on the "offer fitment" and not the "Offer Letter" itself. One should only resign after receiving a letter clearly specifying when to join. Your anxiety is increasing as the company could leave you in a lurch.

In the last paragraph, you wrote, "[Also, I called HR a few days back; she said the offer letter has been put on hold for the first week of April. Meanwhile, you can search for other options. If you get the same, then it's your career. She said once we get approval for the offer letter, we will surely contact you]." This is a clear indication that the company's hiring decision could go against you.

Without getting more anxious, start searching for a job. Now, your liability of serving the notice period has come down. Any company will be more than happy to take on board a candidate who is ready to join at short notice. Turn this adverse situation to your advantage.

All the best!

I am also going through the same pain. Have you received the offer finally?

Request your guidance so I can plan accordingly.

Hi, did you get the BBH approval and final offer letter after that?
