Overcoming Family Struggles and Education Barriers: How Can I Pursue My Career Dreams?

AkhilTC
Hi everyone, my story might be a bit long, but please do read it and give me suggestions. I am an Indian who was brought up by my parents amidst the many problems they faced with my relatives. The major issue was that a part of my relatives were involved in a huge network of prostitution, and since I am a girl, they eyed me as a possible candidate. This my parents opposed and raised me on their own, facing the wrath of my relatives.

Challenges in Education

My parents admitted me to an Engineering college in Chennai. My relatives, keen to take me to their side, hindered my education in many ways. However, I managed to survive that. In the end, they paid hefty amounts to the officials of my University and made sure that I always had arrears in my exams, no matter how well I wrote them. The same happened in my final exam as well. No matter how hard I work or how well I write, the results are manipulated.

Career Aspirations and Current Situation

My father invested a significant amount of money in my education, making it impossible for me to challenge the institution for my results. I always aspired to pursue research in the field of medical electronics, but that dream seems unattainable now as I do not have a degree. Currently, I write articles for a blog and do old photo restoration, which does not pay well. I am in a situation where I have to look for a job, but without a proper degree, most opportunities are closed to me.

I seek your valuable suggestions as I have no clue what to do next. Please help me.

Thank you.

While showing empathy with you, I must say that what you have written is unbelievable. The machinations of your relatives are unbelievable, as is your blame on them for hindering your engineering course.

Career Options in Retail and Service Sectors

Nevertheless, at this point, you may consider pursuing a career in the retail sector or operations of the service sector. Back-end jobs are available even for candidates who have completed 10 + 2. Once you secure a job, you can continue your education through correspondence. There is a wide range of courses available through IGNOU or Anna Malai University. Identify what aligns with your interests and career goals to progress further.

All the best!

Dear madam,

My wording is, if even your relatives harass you, you can take action against them under the Women Harassment Act through free legal assistance from lawyers or through women police officials. However, make sure not to approach any political organizations because they may try to profit from the situation, and you may not find a resolution.

Thank you.
