Contract Employees and Corporate Medical Insurance: What Benefits Can They Access?

shweta041
Hi, I have a query. Can a contract employee enroll in corporate medical insurance? Can anyone explain if there are any benefits a contract employee can receive from the company?

Thank you.

Hi,

No contract employee can receive treatment through the principal employer's insurance coverage. Instead, the principal employer can request the subcontractors to obtain insurance policies in their own company name. We could structure a policy in a way that allows the subcontractor to claim the premium paid as reimbursement from us.

I don't think this benefit will be applicable to them.

Yes. Once their services are confirmed as "Full-time Employee" then you can enroll them.

Hi,

Only the contractor should take out a policy for their workmen. Reimbursement may be made depending on the company's policy.

The employee is working in the organization on a contract basis. The organization makes payment after the deduction of TDS from his/her fixed remuneration on a monthly basis.

Contractual Agreement Review

Please check the mutually agreed contract. It is clearly not mentioned that the contracted employee is eligible for any benefits other than the agreed fixed amount.

Insurance Consideration

Otherwise, attach his name to the Employee Group Insurance scheme, and you can/cannot charge his share of insurance premiums as per management decision.
