Worried About Background Check with Previous Company Closed? Here's My Situation

Hi Team, I have received an offer from TCS, and it has been more than a month since I joined TCS and was deployed into a project as well. I am concerned about the background check as my previous company has shut down. I have submitted all the required documents to TCS and have completed the background check process, including emailing my past employer for verification and verifying my temporary and permanent residence.

Recently, my manager received a call from a third party for employer location verification, but it has been 2 days, and they have not shown up. I am worried about what I should do. Please assist.

Dear Arushi, I can understand your anxiety; however, the closure of your previous company was beyond your control. We should worry about the things over which we have control. For activities beyond our control, there is no point in worrying as it could affect your health.

Evidence of Employment

Apart from the closure of your previous company, what evidence do you have to show that you worked there? Do you have pay slips? Was your monthly salary credited to your bank account? If yes, do you have a bank statement?

Employment Duration and Tax Documents

How many years did you work at your previous company? Did they issue Form 16 to you? Did they deduct TDS? If yes, has the deduction been reflected on As-26?
