Employee Grading System Overhaul: Should We Start from the Top or Bottom in Manufacturing?

How should we go about fixing the employee grading system, from CEO to workers or from workers to CEO, for a manufacturing company? If anyone has a model, please share.

Hi Kumar,

I understood your question. In many companies, the grades are allotted as follows:

Level 1: Management Trainees
Level 2: Officers
Level 3: Executives / Sr. Officers
Level 4: Asst. Managers
Level 5: Managers
Level 6: Divisional Managers / Assistant General Managers
Level 7: Deputy General Managers / General Managers

Please note that in most organizations, VP, Sr. VP, President, and CEO come under EU (this is the grade allotted in our company).

Also, note that the above grades are from my company. I hope I have cleared your doubts.

I have recently joined a manufacturing firm. I want to design the grading system for the same. Please help me out with the same. The various roles to be taken into consideration are as follows: Head of Department, Sr. Engineer, Jr. Engineer, Fitters, Supervisors, Helpers, Shift Incharge, Production Engineers, Security Officers, Sr. Administration.

Departments to Consider

The departments are as follows: Civil Department, Mechanical Department, Administration, Security Department.

Please help me with the grading system for the same. The purpose of my grading system will be basically for recruiting new candidates for a particular grade.
