Six Sigma Confusion: How Can It Really Boost Your Organization's Growth?

Hi, can you provide a description of the Six Sigma concept? I am having difficulty understanding how this concept can help an organization with its development.

Yes, the introduction of Six Sigma is a major OD intervention, but it is not an HR intervention. It is the production or operations departments that benefit most from Six Sigma. A lot of material is available on the internet on this subject. You can educate yourself from the material available. If you wish to gain firsthand knowledge, then you may do some capsule courses or certificate courses.

In one of your past posts, you have written that you are an HR Executive. For your level, it is a slightly higher intervention. The introduction of Six Sigma is a management-level decision, and it is better left to them. Your past queries show that you are yet to develop a basic understanding of HR itself. Therefore, it would be prudent if you give priority to this field rather than making a foray into other fields.

All the best!

Dinesh Divekar has given you sound advice considering the lack of enough information about your organization and your role in it. My sincere advice for people seeking general information is to search CiteHR and/or the web. For example, I found the following link that provides very brief information on the Role of HR in Six Sigma: [The Role of Human Resources (HR) in Six Sigma](http://www.isixsigma.com/new-to-six-sigma/roles-responsibilities/role-human-resources-hr-six-sigma/)

You can also find more information at [Six Sigma Projects in the Human Resources Department](http://www.isixsigma.com/operations/human-resources/six-sigma-projects-human-resources-department/).

The isisixsigma site is a good resource for general knowledge on various related topics: [Methodology | iSixSigma](http://www.isixsigma.com/methodology/)

May I now request you to kindly go through the material and tell us how you think you could apply Six Sigma in your own work? Maybe once you do that, you may be able to give a presentation to your managers on why your company/organization should adopt it.
