Keeping Track of Fuel Averages and Driver Expenses for a 15-Truck Fleet: How Do You Manage It?

I manage a fleet of 15 trucks. I need to know the fuel average of all my trucks at any given point in time and keep an eye on the expenses of all truck drivers.

Please instruct each driver to provide you with the morning reading of the odometer and the remaining fuel in the diesel tank daily. Keep records in an Excel sheet for future analysis.

It's tough tracking the driver expenses, but you can minimize them by examining your route and directly contacting the concerned vendors, etc.

Regarding fuel monitoring, I am certain that there are devices available that can be installed in the tank and monitored online, but this will incur costs and require testing.

The idea suggested by Mr. Divekar is the simplest method. However, the driver and the cleaner should be individuals with a great degree of integrity. Unfortunately, this may not always be possible. How do you enforce it? With the advent of technology, this is definitely possible, and there are now many vendors offering products to help you. Choose the one that fits your budget and use it wisely.
