Navigating Contract Labor License: How Do You Apply and Renew It?

Hi, I want the procedure for application and renewal of the contract labor license under the said act and the authorities to whom we should apply or any samples of letters on how to make applications.

Form in triplicate with challan and factory license copy, MOA to be submitted at DLC office. Then you will get a labor registration certificate. After that, you issue Form V to the contractor for their labor license.

Please submit Form IV in triplicate, along with one copy of Annexure B (contractor information), the challan for the license fee, and the security deposit. This should be addressed to the Assistant Labour Commissioner.

The draft of Annexure B will be available at the Labour Commissioner's office. I have a soft copy available; if needed, I can provide it to you.

We have not heard any "agency authorization letter format" under the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970, and the rules made thereunder. Could you please specify?

Application for Registration of Establishments

Details regarding the manner of making an application for the registration of establishments are provided in Rule 17 of The Contract Labour (R&A) Central Rules, 1971. We are required to apply for registration in triplicate using Form I to the registering officer of the area, along with the prescribed fees as outlined in Rule 26. Contract Labour (A & R) Act: Registration and Licensing

Under the provisions of the Contract Labour (A & R) Act:

- (a) Registration is for the Principal Employers who wish to employ contract labour.
- (b) Licence is for the Contractor who supplies labour or services to the principal employer.
- (c) The Act and the rules (Central Rules or State Rules) contain a detailed procedure that is very simple. All forms are also available in the bare act.
- (d) Fill the appropriate form, submit the form with the requisite fee and/or security deposit to the office of the Labour Commissioner under whose jurisdiction your organization is located.
- (e) For licensing of contractors, you need form 5 from your principal employer.
