ESIC Salary Slab Increase: When Will the New 25,000 Limit Take Effect?

rajal rana
I have read that the salary slab for ESIC benefits has been increased to 25,000. However, the gazette for the same has not been issued yet. From when will it be effective?
Harsh Kumar Mehta
The present wage ceiling under the ESI Act, 1948 is Rs. 15,000 per month. It has not been enhanced so far. The issue will be decided by the appropriate government, i.e., the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. The notification of their intention to enhance such a wage ceiling has not been issued yet. As and when you desire, I suggest you confirm the position from the nearest office of ESIC to be sure on the subject.

I agree with Mr. Mehta that at present there is a ceiling of Rs. 15,000/- in ESI, and no notification has been received by the employers because the matter is pending at the Government's end.
