Dear Shri Chaturvediji,
In public sector services there is provision of annual increments and there is also provision of assured promotion career schemes for central government employees. These provisions are available to all and enforceable against government(s). It is felt that in private sector in white collar jobs even if the unit is earning profits and even if the annual appreciation of an employee is more than satisfactory, the management refuses to hike the salary or do not pay any increments for 2-3 or more years.
Though payment of Minimum Wages Act is there, but I think, it is not applicable in above circumstances. Therefore, the question is whether in labour laws is there any law vide which the white collared employees working in private sector can take legal action against their employer and demand yearly increment or enhancement of pay?
