Is it mandatory to mention the bifurcation of CTC in the appointment letter?

---

Thank you for using our service. It's important to ensure that the communication in appointment letters is clear and accurate. Including the bifurcation of CTC can provide transparency to the employee regarding their compensation structure. If it is a requirement or common practice in your organization, it should be clearly stated in the appointment letter to avoid any confusion. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask.

In the appointment letter, it needs to mention only the bifurcation of the gross salary. There is no need to mention the CTC breakup.

Thank you.

Importance of CTC Breakdown in Appointment Letters

It is always advisable to provide the breakup of the CTC to all employees as an annexure to the appointment letter. Employees should not be kept in the dark regarding the CTC. Nowadays, employees often complain that they were promised to receive an 'x' salary, but they are given a 'y' salary, stating that some of the components are part of the CTC. However, it is not mandated by any law or act.

It is not a must. They can show it in the appointment letter, or they may mention that the CTC will be as agreed upon mutually in the interview. However, clarity in writing will always be the best approach.
