It is always advisable to give the breakup of the CTC to all the employees as an annexure to the appointment letter since the employees should not be kept in the dark regarding the CTC. Nowadays, employees do complain that they were promised to receive x salary, but they are given y salary, stating that some of the components are part of the CTC. However, it is not mandated by any law or act.

It is not a must. They can show in appointment letter or they may mention that the CTC will be as agreed upon mutually in interview. But always clarity in writing will be the best.
