Trying To Find Candidates For IT, But It's Getting Difficult Even After Having Recruitment Tieups, What To Do?

Pallavi Shelar
We are a small software company in Pune with orders for web application development for desktop and mobiles.
We look for front end as well as back end web designing. But we are finding it difficult to get candidates even though we have tie-ups and recruitment partnerships. This is cause we are a small company and we have slightly lower salary than what big companies give.
But I see that some other small companies get decent candidates even though they have comparable settings. Does anyone have any ideas what to do?

Hello Pallavi,
You can do directly tie up with the private designing schools from Pune location. You will get good front end developers from them.
I would suggest to go with Explora designing school, its good school to get good front end developers and designers, you can set up the placement work shop for the same with different private schools as well.

If you are in Pune, you should try the institute like we did, technnovation labs. Search it on internet.
We tied up with them for recruitment. We though they'd be sending us candidates in a week or something, but within 2 days they had sent us candidates and we picked one of them.
The freshers don't mind small companies, atleast that's what i got from them.

Ya try that.
We had tried technnovation when I was in my first job. You just have to allow them to put your logo and name in their website.
They have fresher and experienced also if I'm not mistaken.

Hi,
Firstly- you have to check how the compensation is pegged at - in comparison to big companies as well as comparable companies. If there is a distinct difference, you got to bring the salary closer so that its competitive in the market.
Second- What is the plan for increment ? Do you have a solid appraisal or progression process? This needs to be in place
Even if you get people at lower salaries- the chances are that you might get people who have been rejected by other companies. The other aspect is that even if you are able to hire, you will end up losing them. Your company will be just a platform for them to kick start their career.
So, you have to look at it from hiring as well as retention perspectives.

Hello Pallavi,
In fact this problem is often faced by the companies who are not renowned in their respective Industry. My suggestion would be to hire a good HR consultancy Company who first understands your requirments and is able to present the Open position to the the prospective Employees with more clarity in terms of the existence of the Company , the future prospects, the working environement & the right Job Description. We have found in most of the cases where there is communication gap with the Candidates in the initial stages, finding the right candidates has been very difficult. If you are wiling to absorb, the freshers, then Walk-in-Interview would be one of the Good Option.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Pallavi,
Try to find out how many schools/institutions are there who are imparting the desired knowledge, then talk to their heads and the concerned department lecturers, they will guide you through the people who are well off with the ability to do the work and then you can talk to them about the pay package....you can tell them that your company is hiring them not because it needs very badly but because to give an opportunity for the freshers to get experience....so you will get people who really want to make it a career and you will get what you want....you have to go to the institutions personally so that you can see them there and also the projects/assigned jobs they have taken and will be doing on various projects...to make sure you can ask them to show those things to you.....hope this will give you some idea about how to go....
