Should I Join This Telecom VAS Provider Despite Their Unusual Security Policy?

Considering a Job Offer from a Telecom VAS Provider

I am a bit confused regarding joining a company. Currently, I am jobless and searching for a job. I have approximately 3 years of experience. I was recently selected by a startup company founded in 1996 in India but registered in India in 2013. Actually, the company is a telecom VAS provider company. The website is normal, but I couldn't find details of employees who left the company on LinkedIn. The company is run by an NRI family.

According to their policy, every employee who joins the company needs to submit one month's salary as security with the company and any two of their original documents for security reasons. Saturday and Sunday are off in the company, but even during those two days, there is one technical person present to monitor their servers running smoothly.

So, what do you suggest? Should I join that company or not?

Thanks in advance.

One thing I forgot to mention. According to HR, they are saying that for documents, we will give you a proper receipt for the same. In case you wish to leave, we will return your documents.

According to the information provided by you, kindly check for references with your close ones, friends, colleagues, and experienced individuals. Cross-check, think thrice, and ponder wisely before reaching any conclusion. Always maintain clarity regarding any decision you are supposed to make. If you have nearly three years of experience in the respective field, your self-confidence, hard work, previous experience, dedication, and ongoing process will surely pave a new way to kickstart your career. The job market does play a vital role, so choose wisely, keeping all factors in mind. All the best for your bright future.

Thanks for your reply. The issue is that in my previous organization, I was not able to upgrade myself to meet the current market requirements. Currently, if I apply to any big company, they require high-tech skills. What do you suggest? Should I go for a company with the same profile as my current one, or should I wait, upgrade my skills, and then apply to a big company? I will try my level best to upgrade in a short period of time, but sitting at home makes me a little bit frustrated. What would you suggest?

Also, please elaborate a bit more on how to use references. I have time until Monday evening to confirm with the company whether I will join or not.

Should I join this company, upgrade my skills in a short time period, give interviews side by side, and when I get an opportunity, join another big company?

I completely understand and agree with your situation. Which field does your experience exactly belong to? What are the domains or technologies you have worked with? How about your total and relevant experience? The job market is fine, but still a bit low due to increased competitiveness. It is important to have patience and put in maximum effort. Seek advice from your family members, especially those with experience, as well as your previous colleagues and friends who are currently employed. When it comes to providing original documents, ensure it is not risky; clarity on this matter is essential. Also, verify if the company has any bond requirements. Once you join, be prepared to commit for at least 1-2 years to upgrade your skills, learn the company culture, and excel to a good extent. Consider all perspectives, thoroughly investigate your current company and manager, ensuring you won't face any problems later. Most importantly, listen to both your brain and heart, considering your interest level. Best wishes.
