Supreme Court Ruling: Interest on Workers' Compensation Starts from Accident Date, Not Award Date

pca
The Supreme Court has held that in the case of a claim under the WC Act (now the Employees Compensation Act, 1923), interest is payable from the date of the accident and not from the date of the award. A copy of the court's judgment dated 2.1.2014 regarding this matter is attached for your information.

Thanks

Good and proper decision by the court; otherwise, the insurance company was being rewarded for its delaying tactics. I think the order should have been revised to adjust the award upwards for inflation since the date of the accident.

Thank you for the update. It is indeed very useful information. The Supreme Court has made a very appropriate decision that helps workers who may be injured or experience accidents while working for their employer.

Best regards
