Supreme Court Ruling: Should Deaf and Mute Employees Get the Same Conveyance Allowance as Blind Employees?

pca
Dear community members,

Supreme Court Ruling on Conveyance Allowance

The Supreme Court, in its order on 12.12.2013 (copy attached), has determined that deaf and mute government employees are also eligible to receive the conveyance allowance on par with blind employees. This is because the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995 does not distinguish between employees with different types of disabilities.

Thank you.
