First of all, understand that there is no provision for SL (Sick Leave) or ML (Medical Leave) under the Factory Act. However, all factories in Punjab are governed by the NF/NH (National and Festival Holidays) Act, and under that, a minimum of 7 SL every year, cumulative up to 30, should be given to every employee of the factory, irrespective of their coverage under ESI (Employees' State Insurance) or any other medical benefit scheme.
