Are Resigned Employees Entitled to Appraisals? Seeking Clarity on Management's Policy

Rajesh Hundaker
This is my first post on citehr. I would like to know if an employee who has resigned is eligible for appraisal for the year 2012 and 2013, which was supposed to be paid in April 2013. Due to some approval problems with management, it was not paid until today. However, this month's salary includes paying the appraisals with arrears from April 2013. But for the employee who resigned a month ago, on 20th August 2013, and whose last working day was 30th September 2013, management doesn't want to pay appraisals. They state there is a policy that appraisals will not be paid to an employee who has resigned.

Is what the management wants to do correct or not? Is the resigned employee also eligible for the appraisals or not?

Management's Influence on Appraisals and Company Image

It is not new that management twists the rules to suit their needs, and this seems to be happening in your case as well. Whose fault is it that appraisals did not happen on time? Why was there such a long delay? Another concern is that your management seems to lack awareness of their public image. The actions or inactions of management directly impact the company's brand image. In the current situation, two scenarios will unfold: employees will either receive their arrears or not. In either case, the company's image will be portrayed either positively or negatively.

Please convey to your management that former employees act as spokespersons for the current employees. Their opinions and how they communicate about the company carry significant weight. Furthermore, if employees do not receive their arrears, it will undoubtedly lower the morale of current employees, who may then empathize with them.

Gone are the days when men were treated like machines. We have progressed far from the 19th-century mindset, and those who cling to such outdated perspectives are destined for failure.

Thanks,
