Overview of the National Pension System (NPS)
The Act provides for the National Pension System (NPS) to plan for old age security. Employees who joined the Central Government after January 2004 are covered under NPS, whereas those who joined earlier are covered under the General Provident Fund (GPF). It is different from the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF).
