If the office is closed and no one is going to work on Sunday, then what is the use of coming to the office on Sunday if an employee joined two days back for Sunday?

No, an employee who has not worked for 4 days in a week is not eligible for a Sunday off. In some organizations, if an employee is absent on both Saturday and Monday, they may not receive Sunday off either. However, this entirely depends on the company's policy regarding such cases.

The law provides that the first day of the week, i.e., Sunday, be observed as the weekly off day in establishments, and all monthly-rated employees who happen to be on the company's payroll are entitled to wages. However, in the case of an employee taking leave on a Saturday and the following Monday, the intervening weekly off shall be treated as the same kind of leave (as on Saturday & Monday), as per the provisions of the law in some states. The same principle shall apply if the weekly off of the establishment is declared on a day other than Sunday.

In the case of daily-rated employees, wages are paid for the working days only, as the daily rate is calculated by dividing the monthly rate by 26 days.
