Training Calendar Preparation for the Electronics Industry
There is information in the entire thread that I had mentioned. Probably, you could not filter the useful information.
You cannot get a ready-made training calendar. Every industry's or company's needs are different. Based on those needs, you need to prepare the training calendar. Apart from needs, you need to take into account the budgetary allocations as well. The third thing is the ability of operations staff to spare time for the training. Therefore, you need to have a time budget also. I say this because in many companies, there is a tussle between HR and Ops/production for the training.
Types of Programs to Include in Your Training Calendar
- Hardcore technical subjects related to your area of activity
- ISO, Six Sigma, or training related to quality topics
- Purchase and Inventory Management (very important, do not ignore)
- Fire and safety
- Soft skills and behavioral skills
- Any major OD interventions like mentoring, etc.
- Sales training
- Finance-related, i.e., working capital management, finance for non-finance, etc.
Now, how much importance to be given to what subject is something you need to decide. Take into account past training history, the penchant of your boss for certain types of training (like finance, sales, quality, etc.), and so on. Find out how many persons fall into each category. Determine how many batches you need to make. Assign some budget to each day of training and then make a calendar. Before finalizing the training calendar, keep your finance and production department in the loop lest they may feign ignorance when you declare some training program.
