Request for Resources on Labor Laws and HR Roles

I request you to suggest a few books and website links to learn about labor laws, statutory compliance, core HR roles, and responsibilities. I am very disappointed with my manager for not sharing knowledge on these topics. Despite being a gold medalist in my academics, I find it challenging to justify my job due to a lack of practical knowledge. Your immediate response would be greatly appreciated. I am anticipating your kind support.

Lalitha

In CiteHR itself, you may find more information about statutory compliance. Please use the research option to find more details on PF, ESI, labor laws, etc.

Some More Useful Websites:

It is not possible to provide full details in a single pill. You can visit a law book depot in Hyderabad and purchase all the labor Acts and AP rules made under them. This will provide comprehensive information on statutory obligations and compliance.

Your manager is doing what is correct. He is a manager; he also knows how to manage employees and enlighten them. Sharing all statutory provisions won't be credible if you don't have a good base in labor laws and statutory compliance.

Clarify Your Job Role

You are again looking for books and references, although you only said that you lack practical exposure. You are not able to justify your job because you are not clear with your job description. Ask for it if they haven't provided you, and if they have, then go through it first. Know why you are required and what your role is. Maybe your role doesn't require being savvy with legal provisions.

Trust in Managerial Guidance

When the time comes, your manager will share info with you and rely upon your capabilities. However, you should be in a position to deserve it, and that doesn't come easily or at such an early stage.

You can purchase a few books - "More About Labour Laws" by HL Kumar and "Everybody Should Know About Labour Laws" by the same author. You will get all the information about the laws.
