Transitioning from Construction to Oil & Gas: What Steps Should I Take?

I am currently working in the construction field, but I am interested in transitioning to oil & gas (onshore or offshore) projects. Please advise on what steps I need to take to join these types of projects.

Hi Amol, the switch would require relevant education. I believe you need an engineering background for oil and gas. If you could share your details, I would be in a better position to advise you.

Thanks, Ankita,

I have completed a BSc in Fire and Safety and also an Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (MSBTE), as well as a Diploma in Fire Service Engineering (MSBTE). These are my educational qualifications.

I guess you can work on safety-related projects in Oil & Gas projects since you have a relevant educational background. You can apply to companies that work on such projects like L&T, ONGC, HP, BP, etc.

Wish you luck....

If you have any references related to oil and gas projects, please share them with me. No, I do not have any references at the moment, but if I come across any, I shall share them with you.

You can try contacting your alumni and inquire about any placement opportunities they are aware of. You can also seek help from your professors.

Utilize LinkedIn to connect with professionals in the Oil & Gas sector. This way, you can associate with them and receive proper guidance.

Regards.

Mr. Amol Panmand,

In fact, you can get the job in any Oil & Gas project, as all projects must have an HSE department. Your qualifications are appropriate, just search online for EPC companies and apply through their job portals.
