Does your company provide healthy snacks to employees? Y/N

My earlier company used to provide snacks in the head office for staff and in the plant for workers. Each day, the snacks were fixed.

If the answer is no to the above, are you willing to implement healthy snacks in the company? Y/N

Preferred Healthy Snacks

Which kind of healthy snack would you prefer:
- A) Salad, soup, fruit, juice, sprouts
- B) Samosa, kachori, burger, cheese toast

We used to have poha, upma, pav bhaji, misal, idli, etc., and all were made in the company/plant pantry. Two of the plants used to order samosa pav & tea for its workers, as it was the only production unit.

Estimated Budget for Healthy Refreshments

What would be your estimated budget to spend on healthy refreshments?
- A) 25
- B) 35
- C) 45

The budget depends on how large your organization is and what your budget is for the staff welfare fund.

Dear Priya, the way to increase responses is to create a web-based survey. The way you have posted questions, people may not be willing to answer them in public.

Healthy Snack Options in Industrial Setups

In an industrial setup, a healthy snack can only be a popular snack like idli, dhoklas, etc. However, the union always plays a very important role. The management does not take much initiative as they are afraid of unions. On a regular basis, it's always the taste buds that matter, and people want to eat things that they cannot make at home or are expensive (fried items are expensive) because at home, it's their own budget; in the factory, the company is spending on it, and it is subsidized.

Steps to Implement Healthy Snacks

What you should do is give healthy snacks either very subsidized or free and limited. So, you have an upper hand and right from the beginning, be particular and strict. Once people get used to it, then it's fine, but in no way should you give in for unhealthy snacks even once because then it will stay for good.

There are many snacks that are healthy; standardize them, make them tasty, and then give. I have 20 to 25 years of experience in industrial canteens, and I know that these things happen. Your management itself will not support you as they want to be popular in employees' eyes. Remember this and give me feedback at [Email Removed For Privacy Reasons]. Opinion: When you are talking about healthy snacks, samosa, burger, and cheese toast are not healthy foods. They contribute to deteriorating human health.

Hi Pranav, thanks for your response. I totally agree with you that samosa, burger, and cheese toast don't fall under healthy snacks. I am planning to start a business focusing on healthy snacks for corporates. Therefore, I am collecting reviews from everyone. Some may opt for regular snacks like samosa and burger, while others may prefer healthier options like fruits and salads. That's the reason I mentioned those types of snacks.

Regards, Priya.

Have you ever thought about why we have to provide snacks to the employees? If you are engaging the employees for 8 hours a day, then in the morning, they will have breakfast at home and dinner at home. The only meal to consider is lunch.

The Importance of Providing Snacks

Normally, snacks are provided in corporate companies for those who work late hours. If our stomachs are left empty for a long duration, it can cause ulcers. It is important to have some starch, fiber, and cholesterol. For healthy food options, employees can have them from their own residences. Soup and juice will not suffice. If you provide salad, fruit, and sprouts every day, you can save a lot because employees will stop opting for healthy snacks. They prefer tasty snacks over healthy ones.
