Is It Necessary to Provide Experience Certificates to Consultants Not on Payroll?

rupaliunde@gmail.com
Hi Seniors, we had one person working with us on a full-time consultant basis, and he was not on the company's payroll. He used to submit monthly invoices to us for consultancy charges. He is no longer working with us and is now requesting an experience and relieving certificate for the period he worked with us.

Please let me know if it is mandatory for the organization to provide an experience and relieving certificate to such a consultant.

Thanks & Regards,

You should give him an experience certificate stating that he worked with your organization for a certain period as a consultant in the "specific" department and you were paying him "x" amount. This would help him to prove his work experience to prospective employers. Even on a consultancy basis, he did work with the organization as the organization did not want to attract any statutory liabilities by taking him on-rolls.

Thanks & Regards,
