As a matter of fact, you can provide labor accommodation for all the workers engaged by you through contractors. If you are not providing labor accommodation, then you can proceed further with your Letter of Intent/Work Order issued to the Contractor.
Is there any labor rule available or amended to pay HRA for contract laborers? There is no discussion of HRA in our work order with the labor contractor. However, now he is saying there is a new rule to pay HRA.
Does your state have any act for the payment of HRA? For example, in the State of Maharashtra, there is an act called The Maharashtra Workmen's Minimum House Rent Allowance Act. If yes, then you will have to pay at least the minimum HRA.
