Absence from Monday to Sunday: Should Sunday Count as a Leave Day? Plus, Clarification on Casual Leave During Probation

anupamakoppisetti@gmail.com
In our organization, an employee was absent from Monday to Sunday. Will Sunday be included as absent or not? Also, please let me know about casual leave—whether they are applicable during the probation period or after confirmation. Please confirm as soon as possible.

You have to consider only the working days of the week as leave if you have a weekly off on Sunday or Saturday/Sunday. If the leave was prefixed and suffixed to holidays or weekly offs, then the entire period can be treated as leave.

Please check the state's rules on Leave and Holidays in which your organization is operating. If the state does not have any rules on Leave and Holidays, you should not mark absent for the weekly off, i.e., Sunday. Punjab State rules on Leave and Holidays state that no leave will be adjusted against the weekly off that falls in the intervening period of leave.

Casual Leave Guidelines

As far as casual leave is concerned, the state rules typically describe 7 days of CL in a calendar year. Accordingly, you can grant 1 CL after every 52 days, even to a probationer.
