Urgent Help Needed: Understanding PL, SL, and CL Rules for New Leave Policy Implementation

Request for Details on Leave Rules: PL, SL, CL

Can anybody please provide detailed information about the rules of Privilege Leave (PL), Sick Leave (SL), and Casual Leave (CL)? It is very urgent as we, at InSync, are going to implement a few new leave rules. The existing format is as follows:

• **Privilege Leave (PL):** For planned leave or when applying for a longer period of time, it should be applied from PL. One cannot club PL & CL while applying for leave.

• **Casual Leave (CL):** You cannot take more than 2 days of CL at a time. CL should be approved leaves, which means your leave has to get approved before you go for leave.

• **Sick Leave (SL):** If you are sick even for a day, apply through Sick Leave. If you are absent for more than 2 days due to illness, providing a supportive document is mandatory. Otherwise, it won't get approved.

In my organization, we have 12 PL, 6 SL, and 6 CL. CL & SL lapse at the end of the year, i.e., 31st Dec, and PL can be carried forward up to 25 days, with any balance in excess lapsing. We do not provide advance leave credit; instead, it accumulates every month at a rate of 1 PL, 0.5 SL, and 0.5 CL.

You have defined the leave guidelines quite well. By the way, I have a question: is it that PL & CL cannot be combined due to statutory compliance, or is it just the policy of your company?

In our company, we cannot combine PL and CL when applying for leave, and PL gets carried forward for a maximum of 28 days.

Right now, we are not restricting clubbing them together, but I wanted to understand from a legal perspective if we cannot club them.
