Safety not a theme at theme park - thrown off an ‘Octopus ride’ car - PDF Download

Dear all A fun trip with friends to the EVP World theme park in Chembarambakkam on Tuesday turned fatal for a 22-year-old flight attendant with Kingfisher Airlines after she was thrown off an ‘Octopus ride’ car. She suffered severe head injuries and died on the way to the hospital.

OMG.,, Just last month I went with my friends to Queens land and Black thunder theme park with my friends and had a good time (You wrote a command on my picture on FB as well ). Fact was most of the accidents happens on theme parks due to carelessness nobody ready follow the instruction (Including me). In water ride game (I don’t know exactly what we call) instruction clearly say only 2 persons allowed but my friends riding 3 peoples in one time if something goes wrong what will happen??????? They are my close friends I did advice 1000 of times but they did the same.. But god craze nothing happened to anyone. First thing tomorrow I’ll share the file with my friends then they realize the fact.

Specially in theme parks, sports club, gym, swimming pool etc., in those place we need take of our self it’s very easy too just follow the rules……

In Chennai (Including me) No one follow the traffic rules in city limit only 30 KMPH between 0700H to 1700H is allowed to drive but none of them drive below 30 KMPH in Chennai city limits .., ?? Same scenario that’s theme park its road safety but both are ends with ‘’ACCIDENT’’...

Welcome back! Yesterday, I came across the news on the web that you shared the link to in your previous reply. Not only this, Mr. Dipil, whenever you go anywhere, especially to places maintained by the government, it serves as an example of how our government functions. For instance, in the Vellore COLLECTOR office, the fire hydrant system was completely out of order. The valves were severely damaged, and there were no fire hoses, etc. This is the actual condition of the Collector's office in Vellore. If a fire accident were to occur due to this negligence, the very next day, the Collector would give an interview to the media. He would cite reasons such as the fire accident happening in our office due to the lack of maintenance in the fire hydrant system, making it impossible to control the fire immediately. However, with the help of the nearest fire department, we managed to control the fire, etc., and he should state, "WE WILL TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO THE CONCERNED DEPARTMENT TO AVOID SUCH KIND OF MISHAPS IN THE FUTURE."

Our government is always reactive and not proactive. There seems to be nothing done until it's too late.

After witnessing such incidents, our government should involve relevant authorities (not for collecting bribes) to thoroughly inspect all amusement parks and provide certification. If necessary, they can authorize third-party inspectors to conduct periodic inspections and issue certificates after thorough assessments. This is crucial as it concerns the lives of individuals who visit these parks to enjoy themselves using their hard-earned money.

I agree and disagree with the views shared by all. I agree that improvement is necessary by the Government. Let me share my experience of my visit to "Maharashtra Fire Services". They have an excellent facility, an 8-story building fully constructed following provisions made under the National Building Code. In fact, they have specifically addressed non-compliances during construction. They educate the trainees, and examinations are conducted to identify these non-compliances. The visionary Chief has made the entire facility look like we are in Europe.

I disagree with the fact that we cannot blame only the Government. We should do our part. We can ask for safety instructions, SOPs, follow all safety rules, and encourage others to do so.

I hope I could express what I mean.

Thanks for coming with your views. If this could be the scenario everywhere, we may save many precious human lives. Now, the situation you have mentioned is regarding the Maharashtra Fire Services Office building. What about those industries in which this same fire service office has given NOCs? Are they following the systems? Are they maintaining their fire-fighting systems according to the requirements of the National Building Code? If yes, this is the real victory of that Chief In charge. Otherwise, in my opinion, just maintaining an office is not fulfilling the purpose.

There is no meaning in criticizing only the government staff or the system. Everyone has their own responsibility. As Raghu said, how many of us are following the basic rules such as wearing a helmet, etc.? If anything occurs, the government reacts to the incident and closely monitors the issues. It will last for just a few days. One thing I would like to remember: What does government mean? Is it an equipment? No, it is the joint function of ordinary human beings. If there is something wrong within the link, then there will be a collapse in the entire system (Domino theory). If we find any irregular things, then we should ask for what is right. At least we have to insist. Otherwise, there will be no changes, and we will have to read/watch a lot of incidents like this in our daily life.
