A fun trip with friends to the EVP World theme park in Chembarambakkam on Tuesday turned fatal for a 22-year-old flight attendant with Kingfisher Airlines after she was thrown off an 'Octopus ride' car. She suffered severe head injuries and died on the way to the hospital.

Dear Vijay, OMG, just last month I went with my friends to Queens Land and Black Thunder theme park and had a good time (you commented on my picture on FB as well). The fact is that most accidents happen in theme parks due to carelessness, as nobody is ready to follow the instructions (including me). In the water ride game (I don't know exactly what it's called), the instructions clearly state that only two persons are allowed, but my friends were riding with three people at one time. If something goes wrong, what will happen? They are my close friends, and I advised them 1000 times, but they did the same. But by God's grace, nothing happened to anyone. First thing tomorrow, I'll share the file with my friends so they realize the fact.

Especially in theme parks, sports clubs, gyms, swimming pools, etc., in those places, we need to take care of ourselves. It's very easy too, just follow the rules.

In Chennai (including me), no one follows the traffic rules. In city limits, only 30 KMPH is allowed between 0700H to 1700H, but none of them drive below 30 KMPH in Chennai city limits. It's the same scenario as the theme park; it's road safety, but both end with 'ACCIDENT'.

Team, especially when you're going out with your family, wherever it is, just follow the rules, i.e., wear a helmet, follow the speed limit, obey traffic signs, etc.

The Tiruvallur district administration and revenue officials have been spurred into action. A team of revenue officials led by sub-collector M. Ravikumar and tahsildar Nageswara Rao conducted an inspection of the amusement park and discovered the main door locked. Subsequently, they sealed the park and posted a notice asking the authorities to produce the necessary documents before the district administration to have it reopened.

"As we don't have specialized experts to analyze the quality of the equipment, we will engage mechanical engineering experts from Anna University to inspect the equipment and determine the age of the hydraulic devices used in these joy ride games," a senior district administration official who assessed the park told TOI."

Very pathetic condition... The law enforcement authorities are only reacting after a fatal accident occurred, with little clarity on what steps to take???

After witnessing such incidents, our government should involve relevant authorities (not for collecting bribes) to thoroughly inspect all amusement parks and provide certification. If necessary, they can authorize third-party inspectors to conduct periodic inspections and issue certificates after thorough assessments. This is crucial as it concerns the lives of individuals who visit these parks to enjoy themselves using their hard-earned money.

Thank you for sharing the news. The mode of communication is interesting. I was a little disappointed that there is no information on the cause or probable cause. Maybe the media may not have reported any. If, in case you get any more information on how and why this happened, it will be more useful to understand.

There is no meaning in criticizing only the government staff or the system. Everyone has their own responsibility. As Raghu said, how many of us are following the basic rules such as wearing a helmet, etc.? If anything occurs, the government reacts to the incident and closely monitors the issues. It will last for just a few days.

Understanding Government Responsibility

One thing I would like to remember: What does government mean? Is it an equipment? No, it is the joint function of ordinary human beings. If there is something wrong within the link, then there will be a collapse in the entire system (Domino theory). If we find any irregular things, then we should ask for what is right. At least we have to insist. Otherwise, there will be no changes, and we will have to read/watch a lot of incidents like this in our daily life.
