Stuck Between HR Roles: Should I Choose Core HR or a Nearby Recruiter Job?

Dear seniors, I know that core HR is a better option than being a recruiter, but I have just started my career as an HR executive in a construction company. I am happy so far. However, the problem is they are paying very little, and the site is very far from my place. On the other hand, I also have a job on hold as a recruiter, which is very near to my place of residence. Both salary packages are almost the same.

Please suggest how to analyze this. Kindly advise me on which option would be better for my career.

Go for core HR. Although you will have to face some little problems, believe me, you will learn a lot. Remember, struggle always teaches something.

I recommend what Satish has written. Recruitment is part of HR. Right now, you are handling all the activities of HR. Obviously, your present job has an edge over a recruiter's job. The average recruiter yearns to get into core HR. If you remain in core HR, after 15-20 years, you have a chance to become VP (HR). Look around and find out the ratio of VP (HR) vs. VP (Talent Acquisition). Obviously, there are better opportunities for the former than the latter.

Secondly, you are in the construction industry. Each day you spend there counts as industry experience. Industry experience is always good for career growth. I recommend you invest your time in learning the operational part of your industry. This will surely propel your career growth.

Always remember that hard work will always give you ripe and juicy fruits. If distance is the only problem, just talk to the management and ask them to pay your conveyance charges. Even if they do not provide it, just continue in the same job. Knowledge is more important than taking a salary in the initial stages. Gain as much knowledge as possible and gain experience. With this knowledge and experience, you can shake the world in the future. You can ask for the salary you would like to work for instead of the recruiter telling you that you will be paid only so much.
