What Does True Leadership Mean to You? Exploring Insights from Peter Drucker

Understanding Leadership

Leadership is not a magnetic personality—that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not 'making friends and influencing people'—that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to high sights, raising a person's performance to a higher standard, and building a personality beyond its normal limitations.

Well said. We have more bosses than leaders nowadays.

The news is good to read. We do not find bosses encouraging nowadays. They want to grow themselves, become rich, and reach high positions. But after reading this article, I feel bosses should encourage their juniors and subordinates as work gets completed when everyone works together.

Yes, Vivekanand Sondekere, I do agree with your comments. However, the management guru Peter Drucker had a perfect view on ideal bosses, which are rare nowadays. The quote applies to all in general. Thanks for sharing your nice views. Have a nice weekend.

Good one, Mr. AVS. It is heartening to see a quote by the doyen of Modern Management. Yes, as pointed out by our fellow readers, nowadays the bosses are mostly selfish. Enhancing a reportee's vision, performance, and building their personality calls for devoting time besides showing concern. Development of a subordinate often remains on paper and is just a year-end exercise during Performance Review. Perhaps we can all make a difference.
