Navigating Resignation: What Steps Should I Take After Submitting My Notice?

Hi, I have submitted my resignation to my manager. Now, please tell me what's the procedure to proceed. Will he provide me a letter of acceptance? Will he sign the resignation letter given by me and give me a photocopy? Also, when will I be getting the relieving letter, and what's the difference between a relieving letter and acceptance? Additionally, was it important to mention the date I want to leave the company if it is earlier than what the notice period says?

After submitting a resignation, companies usually issue a letter of acceptance, but it depends on the company policy. The relieving letter is given on your last day of work, and the acceptance letter is simply confirmation of your resignation, mentioning the date of relieving from the company's services.

You need to check your notice period; generally, it is 1 month.

It depends on your company's policy. Usually, your letter should be addressed to the HR Director/Manager with the initiation of your direct supervisor. Then, you will receive a letter of acceptance with a CC to the Finance and Payroll Unit indicating your last day at the company.

Understanding Resignation Acceptance and Relieving Letters

Submitting a resignation is your right. There are chances that the company may or may not accept your resignation. They might have invested a significant sum of money in a particular employee. Hence, when the resignation is accepted, their investment could go in vain. So, there are instances where the company may not accept someone's resignation in such cases.
