IT Professionals and Labor Day Holiday

IT professionals are not laborers. Therefore, it is required that an IT company registered under the Shops & Establishments Act declare May 1st (Labor Day) as a holiday.

It is not a question of labor. The day is celebrated for those who work under someone. I think you are the owner of the company, which might be the reason that you don't like this day...?

Here, what you need to understand first is the definition of the term "labour." Professionals also fall under the definition of "workman." The law is equal for all humans; it is humans who think themselves superior to other human beings.

Is It Mandatory to Give a Holiday on the 1st of May for Labor/Workers?

In most countries, International Workers' Day, also known as Labor Day, is observed on May 1st. The decision to provide a holiday on this day for workers may vary depending on the country's labor laws, company policies, or collective bargaining agreements in place. It's essential for employers to be aware of any legal requirements related to holidays for workers and to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

I found a GOM notification regarding the List of Holidays. Please see the attached document.
