Leave Entitlements for Factory Workers in Tamil Nadu

I request you to guide me about the number of leaves entitled for factory workers in Tamil Nadu as per the Factory Act regarding casual leave. I am aware that there is no separate provision for sick leave for factories, and it should fall under casual leave only. Earned leave or privilege leave should not be allowed in the first calendar year for any worker, and they must complete 240 days of work for this provision. For every 20 days of work completed, the worker will be entitled to one day of leave. Can only one day be considered as privilege leave? I have heard that for it to be considered privilege leave, it must be a continuous 3-day leave.

Please advise me if I am mistaken and also clarify my doubts. If not mentioned in the law, what practices are typically used in factories?

Please check your factory's HR policy. What does it specify about leave? Normally, for workers, it is 1 day of leave for every completed 20 working days. In the case of office/managerial staff, the entitlement is 8 days of casual leave, and PL/EL will range from 20 to 30 days as approved by your management.

Typically, a maximum of 2 days of CL can be taken at once, and if the leave duration exceeds 2 days, it must be PL/EL.
