Forced Resignation: What Employee Rights Can My Friend Exercise in This Situation?

One of my friends, who has been working for close to 1.8 years with the company, has been asked to quit. However, she was not shown any performance data, client complaints, or even a Performance Improvement Plan. Only verbal discussions occurred. She was told to resign, serve a 2-month notice, and find another opportunity.

I would like to know what rights she can exercise and what she can request from the employer regarding her departure. Can she ask for extra time until she finds another job before resigning? Is she required to resign immediately as the management has requested? Please advise.

The company has the right to send any employee by giving the proper notice period as per the appointment letter. It doesn't have to provide any proof. Think about it: when an employee resigns, they don't show any offer letter or proof; they just resign, serve the notice period, and leave the company. Here, it is vice versa. The company doesn't dismiss an employee solely because of performance or complaints. Due to downsizing, manpower costs, or lack of future projects, the company may also ask the employee to quit. It's advisable to encourage her to look for a job soon so that there will not be a break in service, which may prevent any issues in her career perspective.
