One of my friends, who has been working for close to 1.8 years with the company, has been asked to quit. However, she was not shown any performance data, client complaints, or even a Performance Improvement Plan. Only verbal discussions occurred. She was told to resign, serve a 2-month notice, and find another opportunity.

I would like to know what rights she can exercise and what she can request from the employer regarding her departure. Can she ask for extra time until she finds another job before resigning? Is she required to resign immediately as the management has requested? Please advise.
