What is your qualification? If you are Diploma in Material Management (DMM), then go through the books of that course.
Whether you are Diploma or not, what you should be doing is to visit some site in your nearby area. This site should be major infra project like flyover bridge, major housing society etc. Go there and talk to stores in charge. You will get the fair idea of what type of that job it is. Ask the stores person what kind of mistakes happen in the course of the work.
Stores management in construction industry is quite big subject. Broadly the job involves (a) purchase activities (b) inventory management (c) stores keeping and (d) maintaining fixed assets or plant and machinery.
