Facing Resignation Roadblocks: How to Handle Uninformed Notice Period Policies?

JyotiArtsy
Hi, I am Jyoti. For the past 6 months, I have been working with a consultancy as an IT Recruiter. Today (15th Feb 2012), I resigned from my position as I received a better opportunity from a recruitment company. However, my HR is not accepting my resignation letter because, according to their company policy (for me, it's a consultancy), I have to give a 1-month notice period before leaving. I provided a two-week notice period. They didn't inform me about these leaving norms when I joined. I didn't even receive my appointment letter. They mentioned that they would provide my offer letter after 3 months of the probation period, but it's been almost 6 months now. My new company is ready to accept me with a joining letter and experience letter. After my resignation, my leaders' behavior has completely changed. They are not assigning any new requirements to me and are behaving rudely. Please help me...

Doesn't care about anything in the existing company and only do whatever is allotted to you. The main thing is, please get the offer letter from the new company before you join.

I would suggest talking with a senior person regarding the above-described matter and getting some solutions from them. Another option is to forfeit one month's salary and leave the company. However, make sure to secure an offer letter from your new company as it is more important.

Thank you for your suggestion. I also requested an appointment letter after these issues occurred. However, they are not responding to emails. Therefore, I am planning to request it in person.

Why have you submitted your resignation without receiving the offer letter from your future employer? You should not do this. On the very first day of resignation, such issues can arise. Wait a little longer, and they will behave properly. It's human behavior.

Jyoti, you should briefly discuss this issue with your seniors. Even after 6 months of your joining, if they have not issued an offer letter and appointment letter, then obviously they won't give you an experience or relieving letter as well. If they don't give you a relevant answer, then leave the company and join somewhere else.

Unfair Treatment at Work

For the past six months, I have been working tirelessly, and now they are treating me poorly. Due to this treatment, my other colleagues have also left the job.

Advice on Handling Company Resignation

Don't think too much about this company. You have made a mistake. If you are joining anywhere, you should not discuss your future company in your current company.

In this situation, I probably suggest that you inform the new company you are joining if you have a better opportunity than your current one. It is essential to handle the situation politely. Let the new company know the exact situation, as this can also help you in future actions. I know you can do it.
