Dear Sri AVS, that was a very innovative way of wishing everyone on Republic Day. As they say, 'one candle lights the other' (many others!), so are your messages. Two millennium years ago, the great Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar observed in two lines (less than two full lines):

UROONI NEER NERIANDATRE ULAGAVAM PERARIVALLAN THIRU.

Translation for the benefit of our fellow HR colleagues would run as follows:

Just as a pond in the center of a village serves everyone, a scholar radiates his brilliance all around.
