Does HR Really Have a Voice in the Organization, or Are We Just Expected to Listen?

HR's Rights and Responsibilities in Organizations

Hi, can anybody tell me if, in any organization, HR has any rights or not? Whether he/she is working there and listening to each employee's query very politely and giving responses in the same way very politely.

Then HR doesn't have any right in the organization to put his/her points in front of their seniors. If seniors don't have the capability to handle such situations politely, then why are they expecting only from the HR side to be polite and calm? If they don't know how to handle such situations...

Empathy in HR Roles

In your field of study, there are some topics about empathy, while others may not have studied it. This is why some individuals lack the capacity to listen politely to others' issues or problems. If everyone could handle all situations, there would be no need for HR or IR departments.

Let us feel proud that we can handle any crisis and tackle any situation. That is our specialty.

Well, I think you have employees who do not understand things easily, and being polite with them is not yielding results anymore. What you can do is have a face-to-face interaction with their leader, maybe, and find out the main cause. Then, you can arrange a meeting with them in which the leader should represent. Involve the employees in the decision-making process. Talk to your seniors and show them examples of big companies in writing (Walmart, ONGC, GE, China National Petrol, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, etc.). These organizations are very much into involving employees in decision-making. Find out the needs of your employees and the troubles they are facing in day-to-day activities, any grievances. Keep in touch for any further help.

Thank you,

I always felt HR personnel are like civil police personnel in organizations. The reason behind this comment is that, just as police safeguard society and maintain law and order in a perfect manner, HR personnel also do the same in companies. We should have a lot of patience and create an impression for others that we are the most trustworthy people in the company.

Thanks,
Venkat
