Leave Policies in the Hotel Industry: How Much Leave Are You Entitled To?

I am working as an HR Executive in a hotel. I want to know how much Earned Leave, Casual Leave, and Sick Leave are allowed for the hotel industry. Thank you.

Could anyone please suggest how much earned leave, casual leave, and sick leave are allocated for the food industry?

As per clause EL 18, SL 12, and CL 12, these are eligible leaves. Sick leaves are available for employees who are not covered under ESI.

If any employee wants to encash EL per year, then the employee is eligible for 12 leaves.

Leave Entitlements Under T.N. Shops and Establishments Act

Hotels and restaurants are covered by the T.N. Shops and Establishments Act. As per the said Act, you need to provide:

- P.L/E.L - 12
- C.L - 12
- S.L - 12

I presume that you are employed in a hotel/restaurant in Tamil Nadu. The working conditions of employees of hotels/restaurants or other places where edibles are served to the public for consumption at the premises itself are covered by the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Catering Establishments Act. Please refer to this Act for further information.

But the Shops and Establishments Act does not mention anything about sick leave.

Which Shop and Establishment Act does not mention anything about sick leave? In general, State Shops Acts have provisions relating to the grant of EL, SL, and CL.
